Memory
Power
Memory Power™ is
formulated to enhance:
• Memory and Mental Clarity
• Concentration
• Alertness & Focus
Memory Power™ Ingredients:
Vitamins/antioxidants
: Vitamin C (acts as an antioxidant),
Vitamin B12 and Folic acid (which are
both needed for healthy nerve function).
All three are directly involved in the
synthesis of neurotransmitters. Vitamin
B12 and folic acid can lower homocysteine
levels (elevated levels are believed to
be linked to cognitive impairment, stroke
and heart disease). CoEnzymeQ10 is a super
antioxidant that is a critical coenzyme
that functions in the mitochondrion in
the production of energy.
Gingko
Biloba : Herb from the oldest
species of tree (300 million years). One
of the most prescribed herbs in Germany
used for the treatment of Alzheimer disease
and other memory decline problems. Over
400 studies have been done with this herb,
majority support favorable effects on
memory and cognitive function when standardized
preparations are used. Gingko Biloba is
believed to function by
- increasing circulation
(which provides more oxygen and glucose
to the brain)
- stimulating nerve activity
- acting as an antioxidant
that protects nerve cells from free radical
damage (flavenoid glycoside component)
Gingko should be standardized to both
glycoside (22 to 27%) and terpene lactone
(7%) content. This herb should not be
used concurrently with blood thinners
(Warfarin, Coumadin, etc.).
AcetylCholine
(AC) Enhancing Nutrients (cholinergics):
Choline:
Required for the synthesis of AC. AC is
a key neurotransmitter vital for thought,
memory, learning and sleep and is also
involved in the control of movements.
AC strengthens the so called “stimulus
barrier”, making it possible to concentrate
better and be less easily distracted,
as well as to sleep through minor noises
and other disturbances. Choline is present
in foods such as fish, nuts, eggs and
meat.
Phosphatidyl
Choline (PC-lecithin) and Phosphatidyl
Serine
(PS): PC and PS are Phospholipids
that form essential parts of the cell
membrane. Besides keeping cells intact,
the cellular membrane plays a vital role
in moving nutrients/waste in/out of the
cell. Like Omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids
are important for optimal brain health.
They help brain cells communicate and
influence how well receptors function.
PC gets converted to Choline once it crosses
the blood brain barrier.
Many human clinical trials have shown
PS supplements to improve mental function
including memory. In addition to keeping
the membrane flexible, PS can actually
increase the number for neurotransmitter
receptor sites, i.e. giving the brain
more circuits with which to communicate.
There is evidence that PS can improve
memory, mood, learning and concentration.
DMAE
(dimethylaminoethanol): An important
nutrient known as a natural mind and memory
booster. DMAE is a precursor to choline
with the advantage that it can cross the
blood-brain barrier. DMAE can therefore
increase the levels of AcetylCholine and
has been used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s
disease and ADHD (as an alternative to
Retalin). DMAE has positive effects on
alertness, concentration, greater learning
and attention span and normalization of
brain-wave patterns. DMAE is also used
as an antiaging ingredient in skincare
treatments to repair damaged cell membranes.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine:
A powerful antioxidant, it is
a derivative of L-Carnitine, an amino
acid that is recognized for it’s ability
to improve mitochondrial functions (specifically
in the transport of fatty acids into the
mitochondria for energy production). Acetyl-L-Carnitine
acts directly as “brain fuel” since it
can donate it’s acyl group to make AcetylCholine.
Supplementation therefore helps to promote
both acetylcholine production and release.
Pyroglutamate:
A nootropic agent (i.e., known to enhance
brain function), it is a key amino acid
highly concentrated in the brain and spinal
cord. Pyroglutamate helps improve memory
and alertness by increasing Acetylcholine
production and boosting the number of
receptors for Acetylcholine.
Amino
Acids: Generally recognized as
important in the synthesis of other amino
acids, proteins and hormones that regulate
mood and brain activity:
L-Glutamine:
A precursor to the neurotransmitters glutamate
and GABA (body’s own tranquilizer- involved
in controlling anxiety, irritability and
depression). Glutamine has been shown
to enhance mental performance and to decrease
addictive tendencies. Glutamine is primarily
produced in the muscles and appears to
play a role in proper muscle function.
It is also recognized for the health of
the immune system and the digestive tract.
L-Taurine:
One of the most abundant amino acids,
it is commonly found in the nervous system
and muscles. Taurine helps regulate heart
beat, maintains cell membranes and is
involved in the release of neurotransmitters.
L-Serine:
Is an integral part of phospholipid membrane
and makes up other brain proteins and
nerve coverings. It is converted to tryptophan,
an amino acid involved in the production
of serotonin (neurotransmitter involved
in mood control).
Adaptogenic
Herbs:
Korean
Ginseng: Traditional Ginseng
used as a general tonic: strengthens digestive
tract, lungs, calms the spirit, increases
overall energy, improves immune system,
and enhances mental function.
Siberian
Ginseng: Milder form of ginseng
(discovered by a Russian scientist) known
for it’s ability to increase energy and
resilience towards stress, increases mental
acuity and helps the body combat other
symptoms of stress (such as insomnia,
moodiness and fatigue). It is known to
positively affect the adrenals.
Gotu
Kola: An Ayurvedic herb known
as Indian ginseng, used in India for longevity
and vitality and as therapy for anxiety,
depression, and the strengthening of veins
and connective tissue. Nerve tonic that
improves circulation, causes improved
memory, clarity, alertness while helping
with relaxation.
Hawthorn
Berry: A toner for the heart,
acts as a vasodilator that increases blood
supply to the heart and has antioxidant
and anti-inflammatory effects.
Royal
Jelly Extract: A health tonic
known to increase longevity and combat
fatigue, it is secreted from the salivary
glands of the worker bees and contains
a mixture of vitamins, minerals, fatty
acids, DNA and RNA. It is believed to
increase heart muscle energy and enhance
pumping, strengthens heart function and
reinforces normal heart beat.
